Evo-Stik Northern Premier side, Nantwich Town, and Ryman Premier’s Bognor Regis Town caused huge upsets to progress to the last four, with both beating National League opposition. Nantwich Town went through in the most dramatic fashion, as they saw off Dover Athletic in second half stoppage time with the final goal in a 2-1 victory. Bognor Regis held the winning advantage for much longer during their elimination of Torquay United, with Snorre Nilsen the hero of the day, scoring in the 50th minute, to continue a remarkable journey for the Rocks. The Non League Fan Zone website is keen to publish Non-League football articles from any level of the game and here is a piece by Liam Curry (Editor of lgcsportingvoyages) from the Evo-Stik NPL Division 1 North:

Kicking off at 3pm exactly, it was Spennymoor who kicked off the better side and attacked well in the early going, with Shane Henry’s shot from the edge of the box being blocked well by Witton defender, Michael Wilson. The hosts continued to battle valiantly in the first ten minutes and again looked to open the scoring when a cross in the box by Andrew Stephenson saw Liam Henderson’s close range effort fly wide. FA Vase Quarter-Finals Review: Hereford & Salisbury go through, while Bowers & Pitsea & Kidlington play out six-goal thriller

FF4A7031_1

John Mills struck with a minute remaining of extra-time to put Hereford FC into the semi-finals of the FA Vase at the expense of a spirited Camberley Town, eventually winning 3-2. The visitors were unlucky in defeat and led at half-time courtesy of a header from Adam Bunyan. Mustapha Bundu levelled proceedings from the penalty spot, before Bunyan again poked home. Hereford however continued to probe and were rewarded when Mike Symons diverted the ball into the back of the net to force extra time. Both sides had chances to win it before Mills fired in from close-range to send the Meadow End into raptures. Continue reading…

By Peter Dudley:

So I was up in the North East for what should of been an FA Vase Quarter Final between Morpeth Town and Bristol Manor Farm. Unfortunately the pitch at Craik Park fell foul to the weather and saw the match postponed around lunchtime on Friday.

Damn and blast I thought but headed north anyway as hotel, train and friends visiting had already been arranged so sought a replacement game in the area. After much deliberation I decided to make my first visit to the Gateshead International Stadium for a Vanarama National League clash between Gateshead and Aldershot Town. Continue reading…

National League South: Maidenhead United 1 Wealdstone 1

maidenheadunited

Despite poor weather in Berkshire this afternoon, Maidenhead’s fixture with Wealdstone went ahead with the Magpies still searching for a win, their first in over two months.

The opening sector of the game was solely controlled by Wealdstone. Jefferson Louis was proving too hot to handle for the Maidenhead back-line as he continuously became free down the left wing before delivering a number of great crosses for his team-mates to connect with. READ MORE

So on a cold Tuesday night at New Lodge I was at an important match between Billericay Town and Leiston in the Ryman Premier Division.

Both teams sat just outside the play off places on the same number of points so knew a victory would give them an advantage and take them level on points with the play off pack. READ MORE

Two first half goals from Aaron McLean were enough to secure victory, despite Morgan Ferrier halving the deficit for the hosts just before half-time. A tricky playing surface and gusty winds affected the contest in terms of a complete spectacle, but McLean was clinical in front of goal for the visitors when the he breached the host’s defensive line. FA Vase Fifth Round: Berkhamsted 1 Morpeth Town 2

DSC_0871

So for the sixth time in seven rounds of the Vase I was at Broadwater for the Last 16 tie between Berkhamsted and Morpeth Town.

The tie had been delayed a week due to Morpeth’s tie with North Shields in the previous round having only completed on Monday and the Northumberland side had defeated the current holders so came into this one in form. And with only three league defeats all season in what is a tough league Berkhamsted knew they would face a very stiff challenge. READ MORE
