Ellistown & Ibstock United 1-5 Anstey Nomads

Our bad start to the season continues as Anstey Nomads ran out comfortable 5-1 winners.

The game played in sunshine started with Anstey on the attack and EIBS defending well and looking to hit Anstey on the break.

We nearly took the lead on the 17th minute, when a goalbound free kick was saved by a flying Stefan Joyce and we could not tap in the rebound from a tight angle.

Anstey took the lead on 22 mins when Jon Armson tapped in on the goal line.

EIBS 0-1 AN 22 mins

In a competitive game when both sides were not holding back, the ref used his yellow card to settle both sides down.

EIBS managed to hold off Anstey’s attacks until the half-time whistle.

EIBS 0-1 AN 45 mins

Could a tiring EIBS side get back into the game, the answer was no as Anstey doubled their lead on 52 mins when Nick Reeves curled a shot from 20 yards into the bottom corner.

EIBS 0-2 AN 52 mins

Joe Hartopp put the game out of our reach by scoring the 3rd on 65 mins.

EIBS 0-3 AN 65 mins

Lee Hillier pulled us back into the game on 67 mins when a defensive error allowed Lee to slot home from 10 yards

EIBS 1-3 AN 67 mins

Could the comeback be on as we pushed forward. The dream lasted 15 minutes until Anstey put the game to bed to two late goals from Joe Hartopp (85 mins) and Ashi Akien (87) to make the final score.

Anstey were never troubled as our young side came unstuck.

This is our 5th consecutive defeat that leaves us rooted to the bottom of the league with 0pts and a -18 goal difference.

The only way is up and let’s hope that starts on Saturday against West Bridgford.
